Would you please tell us about yourself?
My name is Vicky. I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have a creative background, and I’ve been working in the advertising field since like forever. It’s stressful, but I love it!
I have a son and 4 cats. It’s a long story… Actually, you can find the story on this site.
I work all day, and sometimes it’s hard for me to find time for myself. My job is remote but believe me, I’m in front of the laptop all day. In advertising, there is always an emergency and deadlines are challenging.
Why are you learning English?
I’ve been studying English since I was a kid. Last year, when I started to work in English for an advertising company —writing all day, talking in meetings, and even pitching ideas—, I realized that my English was kind of rusty.
So I set the goal of going back to studying ASAP. I needed to feel more confident. That’s when I found Gau.
What is your favorite part of learning English?
I like to have my own private space to ask questions and talk without being judged. I feel free and confident ‘cause it feels like I’m learning not only the language but the culture too.
What is the most difficult part of learning English?
Pronunciation, I guess, and fluency.
I learned all the grammar parts when I was a kid, so that’s okay. However, it’s always hard to pick casual words and slang. Sometimes I think my way of speaking is too formal.
Do you have any suggestions for people who are learning a language?
Study grammar. You’ll probably hate it at first, but it’s key!
Study hard, do not quit, be patient, and also be proud of yourself! You are learning a new language, and it’s worth it, believe me!
Is there anything else that you would like to share?
After a couple of months of taking classes with Gau, I feel more confident. I write more fluently, and speaking became much less stressful. I changed my mindset. Now I know that I can do this.
Thanks so much, Gau! You are the best! ✨
