Would you please tell us about yourself?
My name is Génesis Herrera, but my friends call me Gen or Gene. I’m from Venezuela, and I have lived in Argentina since 2016. I’m a purchasing analyst for a bank.
I like tasty food and crime documentaries. I study English because I want to move to another country to work, study or start a new life.
Why are you learning English?
I am learning English because I want to find a good remote job where they pay me in dollars. Also thanks to globalization, it is very important to learn a language if you want better opportunities for your life and future.
What is your favorite part of learning English?
My favorite part is seeing my progress in every class. In the past, I was feeling insecure when I talked. Now, I feel more confident when I have a conversation.
What is the most difficult part of learning English?
The most difficult part for me is learning vocabulary. In my case, I try to see movies with subtitles in English, and I also changed my language on my phone and all my apps.
But definitely the most difficult part is overcoming the fear of making mistakes.
Do you have any suggestions for people who are learning a language?
I recommend learning different ways until you find the best for you. In my case, I have studied English for many years, but I never found the correct way until now. Starting to work on my conversation has been very important for my progress. In each class, I can see how my self-confidence improves.
Is there anything else that you would like to share?
I’m very happy with my class. I think this is the time that I learned more in all the time I had studied English with a teacher. Teacher Gau is the best teacher I’ve had, and his class is very fun. He makes you feel comfortable all the time, and is also very kind and funny. I feel really grateful for his help and dedication in teaching me.
