Laiza’s New Family
The next morning, the little girl and Laiza had to think of a plan, because they needed her parents to accept that Laiza lived with them. The problem was the little girl’s mother didn’t like animals, and her dad didn’t have time to pay attention to the little girl and much less a dog.
The little girl and Laiza thought of an idea: if Laiza appeared in front of the house, clean (like the little girl’s mother would like), and did a trick (like the father would like), then maybe they could accept Laiza into the house.

So, that’s how it started. The little girl gave Laiza a bath, and afterwards they left the house and waited for her parents on the sidewalk.
When her parents opened the door, Laiza jumped very high, and she caught a ball that the little girl had thrown into the air with her mouth. After that, Laiza walked toward her father and mother and put the ball on the floor.
The mother saw Laiza and was surprised, “Oh, who are you? A clean dog living in the street? It isn’t possible!”

And her father said, “You did a great trick! You’re a smart dog, I like it.”

And so, Laiza started to live with the little girl’s family.
The mornings were fabulous because when the little girl and Laiza woke up, they ran to the kitchen while the mother was cooking breakfast and the father was taking a shower. After the father finished, the family had breakfast, and then the little girl and her dad walked with Laiza.
When they returned from the walk, it was time to say goodbye, because the parents went to work, and the little girl went to school. This moment wasn’t happy for Laiza, because she was sad when the family wasn’t home. She loved family time, so she cried a little and kissed Dad, Mom, and the little girl before they went out.
The first to arrive home in the afternoon was the little girl, then, her mother and last, her father. Laiza celebrated each arrival! She was happy with her new family!

The days, the week and the months went by, and Dad understood that Laiza didn’t like to play with a ball or Frisbee, or anything like that as other dogs do. She didn’t like other dogs, and they didn’t like her. “I don’t know why Laiza doesn’t like other dogs! I think she believes she is human”.

“She isn’t like other dogs,” answer the little girl. “She is special! She is Laiza.”
And so, her dad had to accept he couldn’t play with Laiza like other dogs, but they found new ways to entertain themselves. For example, Dad loved to read and when he started his reading, Laiza sat close to him. She got on his legs, and Dad petted her. This calmed Dad and Laiza.

Laiza was very different with Mom, because Mom’s rule was that Laiza needed to take a bath every week, and Laiza had to accept it. Laiza and Mom showed their love in other ways. Mom cooked for Laiza, and kept Laiza clean and healthy.
